Deen Dayal Upadhyay Zona Hospital (DDU ZH) formerly known as Ripon Hospital, is a 300 Bedded Zonal Hospital in Shimla city. It is located in the center of city above Local Bus Stand near Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha and below Lower Bazaar Shimla.
The foundation stone of the Ripon Hospital was set by Viceroy of India, the Marquis of Ripon in 1882. Hospital was opened for patients- both European and Indians on 14 May 1885 by Lord Dufferin. The funds of this institution were almost wholly collected through donations
The Bed strength has been increased to 300 following construction of new building in the hospital complex on March 2017.
One of the main USPs of this hospital is that it is situated at the heart of city, near The Mall Shimla and is well connected via Cart Road to surrounding places.

The new Deen Dayal Hospital Building got completed on 26 April 2017. It was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Sh. Virbhadra Singh. The new complex is constructed with an outlay of 35 Crores and can accommodate 135 beds. The new seven storied building has central heating and offer all amenities including chemist shop, parking, blood banks besides , CT Scan facilities etc.
